To be eligible to enrol on our courses as an international student, the following prerequisites must be met. For specific entry details, refer to each course’s webpage.

• Aged over 18 years on commencement of training, evidenced by an official birth certificate
• Prove your identity with a current and valid passport
• Ability to hold an Aviation Reference Number (ARN)  
• Ability to hold an Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC)
• Ability to hold a CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate
• Have achieved a minimum individual score of 6.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test, Academic Category
• Prove your academic ability to undertake this course with a senior-secondary school certificate or a high school certificate, and a transcript of your subject results  
• Undertake online Pilot Aptitude Test (PAT)

*The online Pilot Aptitude Test (PAT) is $190.00. CAE Melbourne Flight Training can assist you with your aviation medical requirements, and our on-site ASIC agent is available to verify your documents and help you obtain your ASIC card.

CASA sets a minimum standard of general English language proficiency.

CASA accepts IELTS, TOEFL or TOEIC as suitable tests for assessing general English proficiency. These tests are conducted by independent commercial organisations.

International students whose first language is not English must have an IELTS score of at least 6.0 per band or an equivalent level of English. Refer to the CASA general English test criteria for more information.

International Student Application & Visa Process:

• Complete the request information form via the link below. You will receive an information pack and an enrolment form.
• We will assess your enrolment information and send you an offer of training via a written agreement.
• An assessment for recognition of prior learning will be made based on the information provided on the enrolment form.
• Students must read and understand the training agreement before signing and returning it by email.
• Students must pay the tuition fee deposit as outlined in the training agreement.
• A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) will be issued once the signed agreement and deposit are received.
• After the CoE is issued, students can apply to the Department of Home Affairs for a student visa.

Supporting Documentation

Students must submit:

• Proof of identification (passport copy)
• CASA aviation reference number (if obtained)
• CASA aviation medical certificate (if obtained)
• Copy of English test results – IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent)
• Last two pages of logbook (if previously flown)

Orientation

New students will participate in an induction program on the first day of the course. Information includes:

CAE Melbourne Flight Training reserves the right to terminate training for any serious breaches of discipline, performance requirements or visa conditions.

The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act outlines regulatory requirements for education providers delivering training to international students on student visas. ESOS provides tuition protection for international students. Students should familiarise themselves with provider and student responsibilities.

If you are an overseas student, Australian law requires that any school-aged dependants accompanying you must be enrolled in school. Visit the Victorian government website for information about study requirements for school-aged dependants.

We aim to provide a supportive and welcoming environment for all students. Most students build friendships quickly and receive support from staff and peers where needed. CAE Melbourne has student support services available, and the campus provides wireless Internet access for both personal and study needs.

Our Student Services team assists with personal matters, visa enquiries, medical needs, or learning support services. Ground School and flying staff are available for additional training assistance, and the management team is open to helping any student with unresolved concerns.

All students are required to provide a USI before enrolment can be finalised. Refer to the information and links provided on the enrolment form.

Students are required to notify CAE Melbourne of any change of address or contact details as soon as practicable during their enrolment.

Personal information about international students may be shared with the Australian Government and designated authorities, including tuition protection services. This may include contact details, enrolment information, and details regarding any suspected visa condition breaches. Refer to CAE’s Privacy Policy.

Private students are required to pay a non-refundable enrolment fee of $1,000, with remaining tuition fees payable according to the published schedule. 

Program fees vary depending on the selected course or training package and are generally inclusive of applicable taxes. Enrolment is subject to the training provider’s terms and conditions. Program details—including pricing, schedules, course content, flight hours, theory lessons, and curriculum—may change, so prospective students should confirm current information with the provider before enrolling. CAE Melbourne accepts major credit cards and bank transfers, and additional costs may apply for optional services, materials, or equipment not included in the program.

Students are typically provided with course materials such as notes and a student identification card. However, they are usually responsible for obtaining essential items from external suppliers, including textbooks, publications, maps, charts, headsets, or other equipment required for practical training. Certain courses may also require specific certifications, medical clearances, or security clearances prior to participation.
